David Bowen-Creative Director

After having aided in the initial growth of Spectrum from Independent                                            A class to Independent World class as the movement/equipment                                                    designer from 2005 to 2007, David returned to Spectrum as the new                                                creative director to further the development of the program at a                                                      nationally recognized level.  Since becoming director in 2009,                                                         Spectrum has made finals in the Independent Open class every year at                                         WGI World Championships.  David attributes the success of the                                                       Spectrum program to the dedication of his amazing design team,                                                     support staff, and wonderful students that are so eager to learn.

David has worked with many local colorguards, marching bands, and drum corps, including the Laurens Jaguars Winterguard (07-present), Norwich Marching Band (08-present), Morris Knolls Marching Band (06-current), and Empire Statesmen Drum Corps (05-07).  David has also marched with the Patriots Winterguard (97 to 00), the Blue Devils Drum Corps (01), and the Brigadiers Drum Corps (08-09).

David has two BAs in psychology and sociology, and a minor in dance from Ithaca College, as well as a MA in forensic psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice.  He is an alumni from Union-Endicott High School in Endicott, NY.  He currently holds a position as a psychologist for New York State, working with the rehabilitation of mentally retarded forensic populations.

In his spare time, David enjoys hanging out with friends, shopping, watching horror movies, enjoying a nice glass of white wine or Dunkin Donuts coffee, video games and losing money at the casino.
